Dalton City – Russell Ray Vick, 59, of Dalton City passed away in his residence at 8:00 p.m. December 25, 2010.
A celebration of Russell’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. Burial will be in Northfork Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Russell was born June 8, 1951 in Mattoon, IL the son of Robert and Ethel (Atkinson) Vick. He married Debra Wampler on December 8, 1973. He was a US Army Veteran. He worked as a Crew Dispatcher for Northfolk and Southern Railroad. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing.
Surviving is his wife: Debra of Dalton City, children: Melinda “Mindy” Scharfenberg and her husband Jeff of Decatur, Michelle “Shelly” Svoboda and her husband Brian of Decatur, Jeremy Vick and his significant other Heather of Marble Falls, TX, and Melissa “Missy” Heyen and her husband Chad of Alexandria, VA; brothers: Lester Johnson and his wife Billie of Mission, TX and Chuck Johnson and his wife Sybil of Ferriday, Louisiana; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

John 11:32-45

Now Jesus raised his eyes heavenward and said: “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 True, I knew that you always hear me; but on account of the crowd standing around I spoke, in order that they might believe that you sent me forth.” 43 And when he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice: “Laz´a·rus, come on out!” 44 The [man] that had been dead came out with his feet and hands bound with wrappings, and his countenance was bound about with a cloth. Jesus said to them: “Loose him and let him go.”
45 Therefore many of the Jews that had come to Mary and that beheld what he did put faith in him;
